Going to the Dogs! Gingin and Duchess.

At our own house, we had a backyard. We tried to get a dog again. Gingin came into our lives. We intended to name her Ginger, but my daughter couldn’t. Gingin was gorgeous. She was a red golden retriever. Absolutely beautiful. We got her as a puppy. She loved the baby, and I thought all would be well. However, this was the dumbest dog I have ever seen. She couldn’t learn how to walk on a leash, go outside, or learn her name. She was the quintessential beautiful purebred dog. We spent hours trying to get this dog to do anything that resembled “trained,” but we had no luck. We located a woman near us who loved the breed and had several. She had acres of land, and the dogs lived in an old barn that had been refurbished with heat and air conditioning. Gingin found a new home.

We decided maybe a puppy wasn’t for us, so we adopted an older dog named Duchess. Finally, a trained dog! Duchess would have been a perfect pet, except she was a Malamute! My second baby was now born, and between his problems and the dog hair flying everywhere, I thought maybe my mother was right! I shouldn’t have a pet! I have never seen so much shedding. It was over everything: furniture, clothes, and the baby! Duchess found a good home with older people who had no children.
